Paralysed Jack Russell gets wheels

Jack, a Jack Russell from Powick in Worcestershire, has been given a second chance thanks to a £400 walking system.

Similar to a human wheelchair, the system supports Jack’s body, allowing him to use what leg movement he has. Julie Spicer, Jack’s owner, imported the system from the USA, following an accident during a tug of war game.

Jack appears to be happy enough and, thanks to the walking system, is beginning to regain some movement in his legs.

Watch the BBC report on Jack.

Just wondering about how much the wheels chairs cost… and where a person can get one? I have a Shitzu that has the will to live, but her back legs are not moving as well as they use to be. I was told she had a bad back years ago, but have been blessed with her getting around on her own til now. Please let me know. Thanks.

    Dear Sirs

I work for and am trying to aid BSAPP, a charity working with and trying to treat street dogs in Sofia, Bulgaria.
We have one young dog, Sarka, in our rescue centre who has a spinal injury, caused by unknown means prior to being rescued and resulting in total paralysis of her back legs. She is a lovely dog, full of life and is managing to get around by using her front legs to pull herself around on her bottom. Not ideal.
I have suggested to Dr Stoyanov, who is the chairman and founder of the charity, that we try to fashion her a trolley/support system based on the ones currently available in the USA,, as we haven’t the funds to purchase one. He is very keen on this idea as he has no wish to euthanise this dog, but something must be done to get her more mobile and able to live a more normal life.
Could you let me have a picture of the wheelchair/trolley, so that we can try to make one of our own, based on the general concept please?

Thankyou for your help in advance,

    Diana
