I was recently sworn at by a man because I dropped two tiny tied bags of dogs mess in a public litter bin. He said I was a "dirty b*****" for doing so. I pointed out that since there were no dog bins on my route and I didn't want to walk into the shop carrying 2 bags of poo, I couldn't see what the problem was. I also told him the bags were sealed and deodorised and was no worse than soiled nappies or human vomit which I had seen around/in the bin.

Along my route I had seen several piles of dogs mess and also bagged dogs mess thrown in bushes and hanging on branches. I would never do that but it seems whatever we do, there is always someone complaining. 95% of the time I take my bags home and dispose of them in my own rubbish bin. That ends up in the same place as a litter bin - landfill!!

Just to note that I live in Barnoldswick, which is part of the area goverened by Pendle Borough Council.

Pendle Borough Council DO have a free poop pag scheme - they are available in packs from council buildings and some local pet shops.

Further, there are NUMEROUS dog waste bins throughout Pendle and in Barnoldswick - we are very well-served in that respect. They are also more frequently emptied this year than last year after many complaints from dog walkers.

The dog walkers may be acting legally but I can't think of many areas in Barnoldswick that have not got both bins and dog bins so I suspect some laziness on the part of some dog walkers.

That said, I suspect that most non-dog owners would prefer the waste to end up in a bin of some description than dumped on the ground even in a bag.
