Mon Bon Chien has everything you’d expect from a posh French patisserie: luxurious biscuits using the finest ingredients, sufficiently high prices to keep the riff-raff away and small enough an output to ensure demand always outstrips supply. This being the Dogs Rule blog, it’s also worth noting that Mon Bon Chien serves an exclusively four-legged clientelle.

Harriet Sternstein, an award-winning American pastry chef now living in Paris, opened the bakery to combine her professional life with her passion for dogs. Flavours available include bacon, cheese, garlic and, perhaps not to the taste of all animals lovers, foie-gras. All biscuits are human-edible, suggesting that only the best ingredients are used.

Parler Paris has more on Mon Bon Chien, as does BBC News.

If you want to offer your dogs a baked treat but can’t manage a trip to Paris, Northern Ireland’s Pet Bakery produces some of the best dog biscuits we’ve seen.

I was slightly concerned when I first heard about Beer for Dogs. My fears were soon assuaged when I found out that it’s alcohol-free and non-carbonated.

No matter how well behaved your dogs are, there’s bound to have been a time or two when you’ve seen the remnants of a cup tea lapped up or had a curious snout in your beer glass. The people at Dog Star Brewing Co. noticed that their dog, Kodi, had a fondness for knocking beer glasses over and licking up the spilt liquid.

Their response was to create Happy Tail Ale:

…made with choice malted barley and filtered water, featuring all-natural beef flavorings. Plus, it’s fortified with glucosamine and vitamin E!

It must be pretty boring only ever drinking water. Happy Tail Ale has been created especially for dogs and, while it doesn’t sound particularly apertising to me, I’m sure they’ll love that mix of beef and malt.

His t-shirts, posters and mugs – available at the Pure Breed Revolution website – all feature fantastic Soviet propaganda-style dog imagery. The home page’s introduction explains the premise behind his art:

You probably realize that you are a mere servant to your dog, and obey their every command … Now you can show allegience to your dog’s breed, and support their diabolical World-Domination plot , with Obey the Pure Breed! propaganda featuring dog poster art by Kevin McCormick.

The site also includes spoof news, plotting the progress of the canine plan to take over the world.

Thanks to Jono Bacon for spotting this.
